How Amba can help

Amba can review your settlement agreement, explain the legal effect of the terms, advise on what claims you may be waiving, discuss practical risks and answer your questions before you decide whether to sign.

The advice is clear, practical and focused on helping you understand what the agreement means for you, including payment terms, confidentiality, notice, restrictive covenants, references and any post-employment obligations.

Appointments

Appointments may be available face-to-face at Phoenix Legal’s Birkenhead office or remotely by telephone or Zoom, depending on availability, urgency and suitability.

Where appropriate, completion of the adviser certificate required for the settlement agreement to become binding.

Urgent appointments may be considered where an employer has imposed a short signing deadline.

Remote Advice

Remote advice may be available by Zoom or telephone where suitable and where identity and document requirements can be satisfied.

Follow-up Support

Further advice may be available if amendments are negotiated or the employer issues a revised agreement.

Experience

Amba has extensive experience working within regulated legal environments and has supported workplace, HR and employment-related processes, including internal guidance on employment matters, staff procedures, recruitment, onboarding, absence processes and handbook or policy updates.

Her broader legal background includes legal drafting, risk analysis, client advice, negotiation and document review, all of which support careful settlement agreement advice.

What to send before the appointment

If possible, please provide the settlement agreement, employment contract, any relevant correspondence, details of your salary and benefits, the proposed termination date, the employer’s legal fee contribution and any deadline for signing.

Please do not send unnecessary sensitive documents until your enquiry has been acknowledged and you have been told how to provide documents securely.

Fees

Employers often contribute towards the cost of independent legal advice on a settlement agreement. If the agreement includes an employer contribution, this will be reviewed before work starts.

Where the employer contribution does not cover the full advice required, or where negotiation or additional advice is needed, any additional fee will be discussed before further work is carried out.

Private paying only

This service is for private paying clients and employees receiving an employer contribution towards settlement agreement advice. Legal aid is not available for this service.
