How Amba can help

Amba provides approachable and practical support for clients who need to put their affairs in order, deal with the estate of someone who has died, or consider arrangements for future decision-making and capacity.

Appointments may be available face-to-face, remotely by video or telephone, by home visit where appropriate, or in urgent situations such as hospital attendance or deathbed wills, subject to availability and suitability.

Experience

Amba’s private client experience includes wills, probate and Lasting Powers of Attorney, alongside related family and property issues. Her wider practice background means she is particularly alert to the way family, property, inheritance and capacity issues can overlap.

She aims to provide clear advice in plain English, with a calm and supportive approach at what can be a sensitive or urgent time.

Wills

A will allows you to decide who should deal with your estate and who should inherit from you. It can also help reduce uncertainty for family members and avoid unnecessary disputes after death.

Simple single wills and mirror wills may be available at fixed fees where the instructions are straightforward and do not require trusts or complex estate planning. More complex wills, urgent wills, hospital or home attendance, deathbed wills and charity wills may be quoted individually depending on the circumstances and appointment availability.

Lasting Powers of Attorney

An LPA allows you to appoint trusted attorneys to make decisions if you are unable to make them yourself. LPAs can cover property and financial affairs, health and welfare, or both.

Registration fees payable to the Office of the Public Guardian are separate from legal fees unless expressly stated otherwise.

Probate and estate administration

Probate support may include advice on whether a Grant of Probate is required, preparing the application, dealing with estate information and guiding executors through the administration process.

Where there is no valid will, support may include advice on intestacy and applications for Letters of Administration.

Deputyship

If someone has lost capacity and there is no suitable LPA in place, a deputyship application may be required through the Court of Protection. This can be discussed as part of an initial enquiry.
